Julide Yasar
Julide Yasar, Istanbul Office Manager, Geodis Calberson GE (Turkey).

"...My working day can never be described as routine..."

I was a consultant in Istanbul in May 2006 when the French economic mission recommended me to Geodis at the time the Group was opening its local office.

I have noticed that it is easy for women to climb the professional ladder in Turkey. Indeed, there are a lot of women managers here. Performance is of prime importance and women are valued in sales positions requiring perceptiveness and diplomacy. Women also offer the key advantages of precision and stringency in their work.

The businesses in the logistics sector require a sense of logic which often appeals to men. I personally like arriving at work in the morning without really knowing what awaits me. I work with all reporting levels such as handlers, drivers and directors, and a host of countries including Ukraine, Greece and Germany. My working day can never be described as routine.
