Muriel Merot

Muriel Merot, in charge of the Euromatic department at Geodis Chaveneau-Bernis, Poitiers (France).

"...I have never experienced any particular difficulties due to the fact that I am a woman..."

I started out as a secretary in 1979, and I now manage a team of 17 people ! I first worked in the international department, in chartering and then in the industrial transfers and specialized handling department, now called Euromatic. I subsequently replaced the manager of this department when he left. This experience allowed me to gain sound knowledge of the different activities that make up the transport business.

I currently organise the work of the teams and the department as a whole. We do an average of 6 rounds a day. Each round is carried out by two people qualified in the delivery and installation of equipment according to the customer's instructions. We unpack the equipment, remove the packing and then demonstrate the equipment to the customer if required.

We all get on well in the department. It is very enriching to work with both men and women, as we all have our different points of view on matters, and I have never experienced any particular difficulties due to the fact that I am a woman, either in the department or in the company as a whole.
